 The error handling in the packages code surely needs a bit more care,
it's on my agenda, though I'm quite stressed out these days. There is no
icedove in backports at all, thus it wasn't able to find any hits.

 Please notice that icedove 3.1 isn't even in testing yet, and I'd
suggest to you to ask the regular maintainer of the package wether he's
interested in providing a backport. I think it might require a fair
amount of dependencies, to it might get tricky to do, especially from a
longtime point of view.
