The package in unstable relies on a dpkg trigger to update the desktop
database (or was it the shared mime info database? I can't remember)...
but the dpkg in stable does not have this feature.
Running either 'update-desktop-database /usr/share/applications' or
'update-mime-database /usr/share/mime' fixes the problem.
