Hi, previously I had installed vim and vim-doc 6.3-071+1sarge1. When I tried to upgrade vim to 7.0-094+1~bpo.1 (without upgrading vim-doc), it said Unpacking vim (from .../vim_1%3a7.0-094+1~bpo.1_i386.deb) ... dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/vim_1%3a7.0-094+1~bpo.1_i386.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite `/usr/share/doc/vim', which is also in package vim-doc Errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/vim_1%3a7.0-094+1~bpo.1_i386.deb E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) Ack! Something bad happened while installing packages. Trying to recover: Setting up vim-common (7.0-094+1~bpo.1) ... After upgrading vim-doc it worked again. I now it is stupid to keep vim and vim-doc in different versions, but formally vim 7 has to conflict with vim-doc 6 if it provides the same files/directories.
