Jan Wagner uploaded a new package for pidgin which fixed the following security problem: CVE-2010-1624[1] It was discovered that the msn_emoticon_msg function in slp.c in the MSN protocol plugin in libpurple in Pidgin before 2.7.0 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a custom emoticon in a malformed SLP message. For the sid distribution the problem has been fixed in version 2.7.0-1. Upgrade instructions --------------------- If you don't use pinning (see [2]) you have to update pidgin manually via "apt-get -t lenny-backports install pidgin". We recommend to pin the backports repository to 200 so that new versions of installed backports will be installed automatically: Package: * Pin: release a=lenny-backports Pin-Priority: 200 [1] http://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2010-1624 [2] <http://backports.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=instructions>
