It would be very useful if you would create a file

debian/upstream/metadata

instead. Aside from the reference, the file may also contain information
about the upstream repository and upstream bug database. The following
link provides details about the format:

As an example, you may take the "alfa" metadata:

Another hint: what are GDL procedures for? Are they useful for the end
user?
