searching for 88RC8180 it seems that the only blurb is actually on
marvell's own site, not a good sign.
the 88SE6480 however:

so, he sounds like someone to look up and contact, he may have had
some luck since posting this enquiry.
the 88SE6480 seems to have a reputation as being cheap and decent,
and ended up in quite a few products.
