Install debian 2.2 potatoe on netwinder

Hello:

we are attempting to install debian 2.2 potato (arm version) on a netwinder
officeserver.  the os is installed and the unit boots up, however we can NOT
get eth1 working - it is not recognized by the kernel.

Has anyone run into this problem?
