Shark memory problems

Hello,

I am trying to get 2.3.99-pre8 to work, but it crashes rather soon after
booting:

Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address c5fff000
-> there is no memory at c5fff000
pgd = c0004000
*pgd = 00000000, *pmd = 00000000
Internal error: Oops: 0
CPU: 0
pc : [<c0128500>]    lr : [<00000100>]
...

While booting, it says the following:

Linux version 2.3.99-pre8 (un23@silvermine) (gcc version egcs-2.91.66
19990325/philb (egcs-1.1.2 release)) #5 Tue May 16 22:15:27 CEST 2000
Architecture: Shark
-> seems OK
On node 0 totalpages: 8192
-> seems a bit low
zone(0): 26624 pages.
zone(1): 0 pages.
zone(2): 0 pages.
Console: colour dummy device 80x30
-> looks normal
Memory: 8MB 8MB 8MB 8MB = 32MB total
-> perfectly correct
Memory: 102948KB available (1300K code, 245K data, 72K init)
-> this is a bit much :-)
[...]
Page-cache hash table entries: 8192 (order: 3, 32768 bytes)
kmem_create: Poisoning requested, but con given - bdev_cache
Inode-cache hash table entries: 2048 (order: 2, 16384 bytes)
kmem_create: Poisoning requested, but con given - inode_cache
-> no idea, could be a result of the rest

Is there any genaral memory issue with the -pre8 or am I making a mistake
here? Some structures or values containing memory information are obviously
wrong, but the only one I changed was meminfo, and that one is correct.

Thanks for any help
   Alexander
