This is about doing reverse tethering (not disk sharing, per se) from iPhones running iOS to linux machines. I don't see why it would work replacing iPhone+iOS with mac+Linux, and I have no knowledge on replacing them with mac+macOS. CDC-NCM is running in iOS, apparently.

This is well known, but it requires the disk to be accessible locally from the machine.
Mounting the reverse tethering + ssh = sshfs so I could try apfs-use

But what intrigues me is that both OS's don't have the same behavior.
Very hard to tell what's going on, if anything, from the information I have.
