Bug#485413: apache2: Apache crashes system due to exessive memory allocation

I know this problem since I upgraded from Etch to Lenny, and yesterday it
happened again, now on a 64bit machine. Just want to let you know that the
current version in Lenny is still affected. Because this is a productive
server I don't want to install any packages from testing or unstable.
The data below is from after reboot. This is a virtual machine, and when it
happend yesterday, the host machine got a load avg of 40 when the RAM was
filled up and the machine began swapping.
