From this I gather that it still crashes with the newest openssl from
last weeks DSA? That update touched a code part that affected libcurl
reinitialization.
Apart from that I am currently out of ideas.
What could be useful is a list of all the php extensions you have
intalled, and another backtrace but this time with libcurl3-dbg and
libssl0.9.8-dbg installed in addition to the other packages listed in
README.backtrace.
