Package: apache
Version: 1.3.33-2
Severity: normal

I have the following configuration (relevant parts)

<Directory /path/to/restrikted/dir>
   DAV on
   AuthGroupFile /path/to/a/dir/group
   AuthUserFile /path/to/a/dir/passwd
   AuthName "My Locked Pages"
   AuthType Basic
   <LimitExcept GET HEAD>
      Require user bla
   </LimitExcept>
</Directory>

The group is empty and the passwd has one entry for the user.

This configuration worked a bit longer time ago.

No I did several updates of apache on this box and the authentication
dosn't work anymore. No other has been changed except the system
updates.

The Error is:
[Mon Jan  3 18:53:44 2005] [debug] mod_auth_pam.c(343): [client 192.168.17.4] pam_auth_basic_user() - ap_get_basic_auth_pw failed

I never configured pam authentikation in apache (Well I never know that
and how this can be done..).

So apache should use his common authentication and not pam!

You filled the bug http://bugs.debian.org/288424 in Debian BTS
against the package apache. I'm closing it at *unstable*, but it will
remain open for older distributions.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/418266. That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
