Bug#317460: apache2: Completely inappropriate error message
Package: apache2
Version: 2.0.54-4
Severity: normal
When installing new Apache2 installation, I ran into the following
situation. I removed the default site from sites-enabled and added my
own NameVirtualHost and virtual hosts. Instead of "NameVirtualHost *" I
had "NameVirtualHost X.Y.Z.W" where the IP address was first wrong and
later correct. I kept getting the following error message for each page
request:
[Fri Jul 08 20:21:12 2005] [error] [client 192.168.1.33] File does not
exist: /htdocs
This was strange as htdocs was mentioned nowhere in the config files. I
finally tried changing the NameVirtualHost to * and lo behold - thing
worked.
I guess this is upstream problem so please forward this to them. The
error message is completely misleading.
