Package: apache
Version: 1.3.12-2.1
Severity: wishlist

Right after the recent libc6 -> 2.1.95-1 upgrade my apache stopped
working. The behaviour it displayed is /etc/init.d/apache start would
claim
Starting web server: apache.
/usr/sbin/apachectl start: httpd started

and if i immediately checked, the apache process would be in ps. If i
waited more than a second or so, it would be gone, and obviously apache
wouldn't serve any pages.

I finally traced this down thanks to some messages in
/var/log/apache/error.log:

[Sun Oct 15 13:48:47 2000] [warn] pid file /var/run/apache.pid
overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?
[Sun Oct 15 13:48:47 2000] [emerg] (28)No space left on device: could
not call shmget

In particular the latter. I've been having a lot of problems with shm
for some reason. So i restarted X (which apparently releases a lot of
shms) and apache started up just fine.

Is there any way this behavior could be somehow told to me when i run
/etc/init.d/apache start?

Thanks.
