Package: apache
Version: 1.3.9-13.1

Config with debian2.2 packages:

apache-common 1.3.9-13.1
apache-perl 1.3.9-13.1
php4 4.0.3pl1
php4-imap 4.0.3pl1
php4-ldap 4.0.3pl1
php4-mysql 4.0.3pl1

We have apache+php4+mysql running on our system. It has a gig of memory
and more than enough disk space to handle the application we're using.
We've never had problems like this before with this configuration:

	- Apache or apache-ssl work fine when used normally

	- When more than fifteen or so users use the machine,
it will grow exponentially more consumptive until
the machine hangs (everything but ping hangs from
	  the outside)

	- Problem slows then stops as connections are severed.

	- The product runs absolutely fine under Redhat with
	  apache-ssl+php4+mysql.

	- No out-of-the-ordinary log messages in ANY logs.

I checked the bug listings, but there was no report of this. Since I
am running the debian apache configuration pretty much "out of the box",
I thought this might matter.

I thought that it was apache-ssl originally, so I added apache to run
the connections on :80. The result was that (while apache-ssl was still
running, though not listening to :80) the regular apache server did the
same thing.

Since the apache-ssl process was still running, I guess it could still
be apache-ssl, otherwise, I'm not sure where to start.
