X-Server is starting on wrong terminal

Hello all,

on my debian-amd64 system, the X-Server is starting on the false console:
console 9, but should be 7.

I checked the settiongs, but could not detect any misconfiguration.

But I suppose, I did not see the correct things. Can someone please help ?

This is the process output:

root 4977 2.4 4.1 157936 86444 tty9 SLs+ 09:53
13:19 /usr/bin/X -br -nolisten tcp :0 vt9 -auth /var/run/xauth/A:0-3E9GMa

You see, it is "vt9", but should be "vt7".

/etc/inittab seem to be correct.

In /etc/X11/xdm/Xservers the entry is correct:

# Examples for multiple local X displays:
# :0 local /usr/bin/X :0 vt9 -depth 15 -nolisten tcp
# :1 local /usr/bin/X :1 vt10 -depth 8 -nolisten tcp
:0 local /usr/bin/X :0 vt7 -nolisten tcp

So, what do I have to check additionally ? The virtual terminal changed
suddenly after an update.

How can I correct this to the default settings ?

Best regards

Hans
