If you have cupsys and foomatic and such installed, just point a browser
at http://localhost:631/admin and add the printer.  For a USB printer it
almost always even autodetects the model and makes everything very
simple.  None of the GUI tools ever seemed worth the bother given how
simple the cups web interface is.
