My filesystem supports files bigger than 2GB indeed. I have recompiled the kernel 2.4.32 though.
Now, I have given a try to curl command and it works fine:

LuizSo may be your filesystem does not support files larger that 2GB (or 4GB). I particular relevant for the VFAT (aka MSDOS) filesystem used often for compatibility purposes.
