I had a heap of trouble with 100.14.11 on my 6800 (NV40) card.
Erroneous lines were drawn regularly, and sometimes one of the heads
would just switch off. NVRM Xid messages were reported by the kernel
module regularly.

These symptoms can suggest fan failure but nvidia-settings reported
normal temperatures.

Yesterday I downgraded to 100.14.09 and it is perfect again.
