Just be aware that bcm43xx is a hit or miss affair; my Broadcom 4318
worked with bcm43xx with kernel 2.6.18 but not with 2.6.20, and never
with WEP. There are various other reports of trouble with bcm43xx; YMMV
is particularly true here.
Thanks Ill try your suggestion in a while. Im writing this in windows, i need to reboot. I saw the above somewhere and now Im worried!

whats the contents of /etc/network/interfaces?
by default the wireless keys are hex, to use a string you need to put
s:xxxxxxx
where xxxx is the pass-string
