Re: sun-java6-jre

from past experience, one needs to use make-jpkg to make a debian package from one of the various java packages available

this may not be the case anymore (as i believe juns java is now gpl/lgpl?) anyway i have only used ibm's jdk on ppc (with debian, ive used juns jdk on windows more than i would like to talk about)

here is a nice article that may help you

http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/142

if not, hopefully someone who is has more amd64-java specific know
how can help.

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
sun-java6-jre: Depends: sun-java6-bin (= 6-01-1) but it is not going to be installed or ia32-sun-java6-bin (= 6-01-1) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

Thanks

Marcin
