glib detected corrupted

Two dual-core opteron, mainboard Tyan S2895, 8GB ram
amd64 etch
kernel 2.6.17-2-amd64 # SMP
no X installed
no internet connected

During mpqc computation (lasting from 24h) I went to Alt-F2 to check the
calculation and save the calculation output at that time. To this end I
mounted a usb card reader, saved, and then I had to "kill -KILL" the user to
be able to umount (kill alone was never effective). I had to login again as
user at the killed Alt-F2 terminal window. "su" and umount than proceeded
correctly. This is a procedure (right or wrong) that I was used at without
problems.

Returning to Alt-F1, an unexpected situation: the mpqc calculation was
interrupted (curiously at the end of a "iter" pass) with message

***glib detected *** corrupted double-linked list:
0x00002aaad08f6910***

Any understandable meaning?

Then, I just linked to internet, commanded
#apt-get update
which did not report anything wrong. And I am going to restart the
calculation.

Incidentally, is it now
#apt-get upgrade
in order? I stopped using it three weeks ago when the new release had a bug.

Thankk you for paying attention
Cheers
