I have 2.6.16.5-amd64-k8-smp from kernel.org with small patches
to drivers/scsi/ahci.c and drivers/scsi/sata_via.c to make
VT8251 SATA available.

Well, I am getting about the same with Asus A8V-VM (and VT8251).
It is that I was expecting more...
