Your chipset appears newer than sarge, so full support is very unlikely.
many intel chipsets support a dumb mode in which it combines the sata
and ide devices into one pile of ide devices (for dos/windows installer
compatibility) which makes the linux driver (at least in the kernel used
by sarge) confused so it either sees the ide devices or the sata but not
both.  Setting the bios to native/enhanced mode rather than
combined/emulation mode tends to make that problem go away.  On the
other hand some systems (mainly Dell) won't even let you have such a
bios option.

You may have better luck with the daily builds since they have newer
drivers (2.6.15 kernel).

Or you can see if 2.6.12 kernel is better and use my sarge installer
from www.tinyplanet.ca/~lsorense/amd64/
