Where has it gone?
Hello All,
I am presently runing 2.6.11-9-amd64-k8. I think my system is broken as
it is having trouble with what it *thinks* is the correct kernel version
-sources etc.
I would like to be running the latest testing but when I attempt an
apt-get install kernel-image I get the following:
root@Goliath:~# apt-get install kernel-image
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Package kernel-image is a virtual package provided by:
kernel-image-2.6.11-9-amd64-k8 2.6.11-4
You should explicitly select one to install.
E: Package kernel-image has no installation candidate
so I do....
root@Goliath:~# apt-get install kernel-image <tab-completion>
kernel-image kernel-image-2.6.8-10-amd64-k8
kernel-image-2.2.25 kernel-image-2.6.8-11-amd64-k8
kernel-image-2.4 kernel-image-2.6-amd64-k8
kernel-image-2.6 kernel-image-netbootable
kernel-image-2.6.11-9-amd64-k8
root@Goliath:~# apt-get install kernel-image
so I do...
root@Goliath:~# apt-get install kernel-image-2.6.11-9-amd64-k8
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
kernel-image-2.6.11-9-amd64-k8 is already the newest version.

root@Goliath:~#
so I use --reinstall....
and I get
root@Goliath:~# apt-get install kernel-image-2.6.11-9-amd64-k8 --reinstall
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reinstallation of kernel-image-2.6.11-9-amd64-k8 is not possible, it
cannot be downloaded.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 2 not upgraded.
root@Goliath:~#
So I think, humm there must be new images, sources, headers, etc BUT I
cannot find them.
Please advise!!!!!
Thank You,
Brian
