Some stuff is going back and forth.  Some of the stuff going in to d-i
seems to be borrowed from ubuntu.  Of course many of the developers work
on both ubuntu and debian, and some packages even have changelogs for
both debian and ubuntu intermigled now.  Cooporation is a good thing.
