Re: Motherboard Report: Gigabyte GA-7A8DW
Hi,
First time I download mini.iso from
http://amd64.debian.net/debian-pure64/dists/stable/main/installer-amd64/current/images/monolithic/
and start installation. Everything is ok utill setup the boot loader. My
favour is lilo, so I install it into MBR /dev/sda, but system show me "lilo
installation failed" Running"/sbin/lilo" failed with error code "1".
After that I download latest image "debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso" from
http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/cdimage-testing/sid_d-i/amd64/current/, this
time everything is okay, I can install boot loader into /dev/sda ,then I
reboot system. When system checked ext3 file system and system show message
like this:
hotplug[374] trap invalid operand rip:2a959c74e7 rsp:7fbfffa00 error:0

I think the kernel is not support amd 8131 chipset very well. Few months
ago, I had try Mandrake Linux on the same machine, I got some truble too,
but I changed my scsi card from pci-x slot to normal pci slot, and I could
install Mandrake smoothly.
P.S I had install debian successfully on my machine before, but I installed
it on IDE HDD.
My system use
BOARD Gigabyte GA-7A8DW
Opteron 242 CPU X2
RAM 512 x2
AGP NVIDIA
SCSI CARD ADAPTEC 29320LP
SCSI HDD Segate 36g
