dependency problems base-files, libc6

Hi,

since trying to upgrade an existing installation, I´m stuck with some
dependency problem. The dependencies of the base-files package mismatch
the version of the libc6 package. This keeps the libc6 from being
updated, and in turn quite a number of packages remain held back.

The amanda packages have been removed, and I cannot install the newer
versions unless libc6 has been updated. But I need amanda to do all the
backups ...

Things show up as follows:

prometheus:/home/hwilmer# apt-get install amanda
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Package amanda is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
  amanda-common
E: Package amanda has no installation candidate
prometheus:/home/hwilmer# apt-get install amanda-common amanda-client
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  amanda-client: Depends: libc6 (>= 2.3.2.ds1-21) but
2.3.2.ds1-19.0.0.2.pure64 is to be installed
  amanda-common: Depends: libc6 (>= 2.3.2.ds1-21) but
2.3.2.ds1-19.0.0.2.pure64 is to be installed
E: Broken packages
