Why not just e-mail Nvidia and explain the differences, and request a 
change to the README.  That way if people are bothered to read the 
document they will know that another way is possible besides the 
Nvidia installer.  Or work with them to make it more Debian 
compliant, so problems won't occur if they do decide to use the 
installer.
