I just see this now so maybe Harald already mentioned that there are
plans for amd64 systems with efi.

It is only in the gcc-3.4 repository. The pure64 archive has
partman-efi in arch-excludes in accordance to the Sources file.

~/archive/gcc-3.4$ wb-cmd grep partman-efi
unstable main amd64 partman-efi 7.0.0.1.amd64 installed 2004-11-11.13:51:07 Andreas Jochens <aj@andaco.de> 

The .0.0.1.amd64 would denote a amd64 specific patch being applied,
most likely just adding amd64 to the Architecture. Questions as to why
he did this should go to Andreas.

You are mistaken it seems. 7 is the current sid version.
