Success report: installing pure64 on a dell poweredge 1850

Hello,

I had the chance to test the installation of pure64 on a dell poweredge
1850 with "nocona" xeons, and I only can say: it works like a charm.
This system will presumably run sarge for amd64 as soon as it is
released.

Installation was as usual, after pointing the installer to alioth and
selecting the unstable distribution everything went as intended.

BTW, there was no sign on the box, the system itself or the bios splash
screens this is an em64t system, nothing. I first expected the kernel to
stop complaining it does not support long mode, but it really booted.

If rumours are true and Intel is shipping only em64t pentium4 and xeon
CPUs, the amd64 port will become the most important one in a medium
term.
