To make matters stranger, I have an Asus K8V SE Deluxe as well and I got
the 20040711 images working with a 2.6.7-nocona kernel (which seems to be
the default). I have a Seagate 200G SATA on the VIA SATA controler as my
only hdd and that gets recognised and is operating ok. I haven't stressed
the installation yet, but I don't think it will make much of a difference.

Thomas
