Re: Port Name: A Vote

Our concern is that by choosing AMD64 as the port name, it could forfeit its compliance with the x86-64 LSB.

At first glance that seems unlikely, especially since the latest docs call the
architecture AMD64, not x86-64. I refer to LSB-Core-AMD64. I don't
understand how using the same name for the Debian arch conflicts.

Perhaps you could state your concern more specifically.

And not meaning to muddy the waters further, if x86_64 is the preferred branding and if special characters used as separators are impractical in architecture names, then I don't see why the reasonable alternates wouldn't include replacing the "_" with either nothing (x8664) or some other acceptable alphanumeric (x86x64). Still it isn't obvious to me whether the most acceptable of those would be better than amd64.
