Is the problem with SSH key generation the same root cause as with SSL ?
If someone is working on the sysklogd failure to build, please tell me.

I'm a little puzzled on the SSH one. I have put the "good" OpenSSL into
my repository and am using that. (I forget who built that; thanks to
you anyway <g>).

Now, it's possible that there is still a bug in that SSL, or there may
be a bug in SSH. I don't know which, but that problem is indeed highly
annoying.

PS... I am still alive and working on amd64. Sorry for not being very
active here. My time has been extremely limited the past week or so.
I'm trying to puzzle out the right solution to gcc. Will post when I
have it.

I'm still getting the hang on the key generation:
