I am trying to do this too. I get as far as "Downloading the Release
file" but get a "Bad archive" error with all the UK mirrors. The
network seems to be divined correcly as it gets its IP address from
the bootp. I manually enter a nameserver but I'm pretty sure it's
correct as it works for my other machines.
Is there any way to get to the error logs when using a serial console?
(I'm using minicom.)
My multia currently runs RedHat 5.2 which boots from an internal IDE
disc via ARC and milo. It's a 166MHz with 64MB. It also has an SVGA
card in the slot.
I tried copying the image referred to in the debian-alpha
installation guide to the IDE drive. It started booting but stuck at
loading the initrd. I guess there is no IDE built into the kernel.
Would it be possible for installation kernels to be built with IDE
included?
How come the netboot image only supports serial console?
