Sorry, if I wasn't clear about the problem: The modprobe fails due to
some unresolved symbols or something similar (sorry, I have the machine
not here so I cannot boot and write down the exact missing symbols,
drivers name, etc. ATM).
Therefore the driver as such could not be loaded.

If I have to guess then I would guess that the kernel package
(Debian-Sarge-current) wasn't correctly build (for whatever reason). But
I know next to nothing about Debian and Debian packages/packaging .....
