Size of libc6

Hi,

I've observed this on my i386 box:

-rw-r--r--    1 root     root         1.2M Jan 20 11:29 /lib/libc-2.3.2.so

But on Alpha:

-rw-r--r--    1 root     root          18M Apr 22 18:22 /lib/libc-2.3.2.so

Why this more than tenfold discrepency?
