Re: problems with 2.4.2x on alpha

I regularly build 2.4.2x kernels on several alpha boxes, 21164 as well as 21264 CPU's, as well as SMP kernels, happy to see USB wireless
adapter code working in 2.4.26 and 2.4.27pre1, that is code builds from
cvs src from at57c503 project.( see enclosed dmesg).
What i do:
get linux-24.2x.tar.gz from kernel.org
in /usr/src:
tar xzvf linux-2.4.2x.tar.gz, mv linux-2.4.2x linux,
in linux dir:
make config, make menuconfig or make xconfig
remember to say 'Y' for scsi card in low level scsi driver you have NOT 'M'
if you want to reboot.
make dep
make boot
make modules
make modules_install
cp System.map /boot/System.map-2.4.2x
cd arch/alpha/boot , cp vmlinux.gz /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.2x
cd / , ln -s boot/vmlinuz-2.4.2x vmlinuz-2.4.2x
cd /etc, edit aboot.conf
add line: vmlinuz-2.4.2x ro root=/dev/sda#
and reboot to enjoy.
