CD and boot-floppies are officially supported only for the current
"Stable". Sid is currently "Unstable", that means it will never have an
official installer.

Sarge is going trough the last steps to become "Stable". One of those
steps is the move to the new Debian Installer, which (will) hopefully
work on Alpha (it will, actually, but I'm not sure it is already in a
usable state right now).

Your best bet is probably to install using the boot-floppies (or CDROM)
from Woody, and upgrade right after the installation (pretty easy and
almost hassle-free on Debian).

If you want to go unsafe, try using the current snapshots of Debian
Installer for Alpha.
