With 2.6.0-testx, you have to use the correct toolchain, as documented
in Documentation/Changes. In addition, there have been issues with the
linker on alpha lately, but these have been fixed. Check LKML archives
for the thread ( sould be July/August this year ).

As a sidenote, Debian-testing has all the necessary bits in place - i
run 2.6.0-test2 +O10 +some own stuff without a problem on a dual-alpha
EV67.

So, 2.6.0-test works basically on alpha.
