DS10, Linux 2.4.20 Kernel Panic on boot

Hi,

I am wondering whether anyone has seen this:

I have an DS10 which runs Debian 2.2.X no problems, but when I compile
up 2.4.18 or 2.4.20 it refuses to boot and hangs on the SCSI driver.
However if I take 2.4.18-generic pre-compiled kernel it boots no
problems

The configuration:

	DS10 + SymLogic 53C895 SCSI card

I have tried GCC v2.95, 3.01, 3.11, 3.22

With 2.4.18 using the included config file (ie all devices are modules):

	sym53c895-0: Downloading SCSI Scripts
	scsi0: sym53c8xx-1.7.3c-20010512
	Vendor: COMPAQ Model: BB009222B5 ....etc
'Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address
B3e22f3d6a733fa9'

With 2.4.20 using the response is virtually identical.

Any ideas?

Regards

Eden
