PC164LX IDE problems

Hi all,

I attempt to run woody on a PC164lX using an IDE
drive. The system will be a bridging firewall, which
requires kernel 2.4.19 + patches. The woody install
went fine, based on the 2.2.x kernel provided. After
upgrading to a stock 2.4.19 kernel ( without the
bridging patch ), I had various problems with the IDE
drive. Errors ranged form inaccessible HDD, giving:
hda: lost interrupt
to loss of complete filesystems on the drive ( luckily
without critical data-loss - it was a fresh install ;-)

Currently, I cannot say, that this isn't a hardware fault,
like cable problem or defective HDD.

Since i'm not an IDE expert ( usually scsi only ), i'd like
to make sure, it's not a stupid configuration errror.

So, if some kind soul could send me his/her IDE-portion
of the .config - preferably of a 2.4.19 kernel - i could
check this.
Also, are some settings ( for stability ) with hdparm required ?

My IDE config is:
primary master - IBM HDD ( 8gig DJNA )
secondary master - IDE CDROM
jumpers are set ok. I need two cables due to 19" case
constraints.

Besides me asking for a running .config IDE-section, any ideas ?

Regards,
T. Weyergraf
