It seems that any and all graphics operations don't work on the alpha (if someone else knows otherwise, please do tell). None of the various applications I could find that wrote to the framebuffer were able to display anything, including fbtv, fbi, mplayer, fbgs, ggi, svgalib, sdl, ... Confusingly, I no longer have boot penguins. But the VGA console still works and I can start X, now that the card is in the other slot. And who cares about fbdev when you have X? Also the "Devsel" error messages I posted earlier are gone. I briefly put a Matrox Milennium II in the CS20, and it DID display the video BIOS screen on bootup. The Marvel G200 I have does not, however. Maybe it's the card itself.
