newbie install question: woody on xl 266
Hello;
I've downloaded an iso image from
http://www.phy.olemiss.edu/debian-cd/, I can get milo to load, but
I'm not sure it can see the files on the scsi cd drive. For example,
when I try
MILO> ls sda5:
it lists various NT files and directories (currently on the hard drive)
- or, when I try something like
MILO> boot sda5:/boot/linux
it tells me it can't find the kernel (there is a file at /boot/linux
on the cd).
- I've tried following instructions from
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/MILO-HOWTO/load-section.html#ARC-SECTION
about loading milo from a floppy, but the same results occur.
- if I try
MILO> show
it returns lots of info, including the statement
MVRAM is not supported on this system
- when I try
MILO> ls -t is09660 sda5:
it tells me
Syntax error: wrong argument count
I apologize for such newbie-ness (I've installed linux on PPC and
intel before, but not alpha), I've been through the documentation
forwards and backwards; I wonder if anyone could suggest anything at
this point ;->
-still excited about debian!
Bill
