Not noticeably, it should both be 2.95 variants.

I remember some other lisp engine failing because it was using self
modifying code without invoking "imb" to clear the icache. Perhaps
that is the problem?

In any case, you should probably file a bug report against clisp for
now. It can be reassigned to gcc then if it turns out it's gcc's
fault.

You can get free accounts on Alphas from Compaq/HP (look for "test
drive"), also Debian has a few Alpha machines (try lully.debian.org).
