According to http://www.debian.org/ports/alpha/sys_types, AlphaServer
4100 is supported.

Unfortunately, as long as we don't see the messages, or at least know
in what part of the installation they appear, I don't think we can
tell you much. Perhaps you can use a PC with a terminal program to log
them.
