That is the failure I'm seeing and I'm pretty sure that it is due to 
this difference in the length of long values in the scenery files.  What isn't
clear to me is whether the fault lies in the parsing routines for not being
careful about longs, or the creators of the binary scenary files.  Are those
scenary files supposed to be rebuilt in an architecture dependent way?
