Success with the ATI Rage 128 is random, apparently. It works sometimes in
PCI Bus 1, but not others (in the last 5 powerups, it's recognized the card
twice when sitting in one of the 32 bit slots on PCI Bus 1, but never in the
32 or 64 bit slots on PCI Bus 0). My instructions (and Mike Foley) tell me
that it should be in PCI Bus 0, but it doesn't seem to come up. Maybe this
was all due to that fact that the machine had 264DP firmware instead of
UP2000.
I now have the UP2000 firmware installed from API's web site, v5.8-81. All
this trouble came about because I wanted to swap the ATI Xpert 98 card from
the UP2000 into an older PC164 alpha with a dead S3 video card. Alas, the ATI
Xpert 98 doesn't work in the PC164, so this is all moot. I'll stick with the
ATI Xpert 98 in the UP2000 and go buy another S3 for the PC164.
Thanks for the help, though.
