Without knowing full details and having the box beside me I would
guess that it may be.

I am not familiar with your machine, but my 1000A server has the same
voltage requirements and power connectors as supplied by an ATX PSU
.... could you perhaps try using an other PSU?

Perhaps in sorrow over the Compaq Alphacide, my Alphastation 600 gave
up the ghost yesterday.

If I press the power button, the fan starts, but dies within a
second. Nothing else happens.

My question, O mighty list, is: is this a power supply failure? And if
so, are PSs difficult to find for this machine?
