Netscape
Hi all,
I have downloaded Netscape from Compaq's web site, and converted it to a deb
with alien dsk and installed it from /
My problem is that the darn thing is blind! This particular machine is
behind another box that is NATing between the internet and my LAN. The
error I get is:
Netscape: subprocess diagnostics (stdout/stderr)
init_svc: bad format in file /etc/svc.conf
getsvc: cannot initialize from /etc/svc.conf
My /etc/svc.conf file looks like:
aliases=local
group=local
hosts=local,bind
netgroup=local
networks-local
passwd=local
protocols=local
rpc=local
services=local
SECLEVEL=BSD # for backwards compatibility ONLY
I removed the "yp" entries, since NIS is not installed.
and beneath that error:
Warning: The following hosts are unknown:
aylee (this box)
home.netscape.com
home6.netscape.com
internic.net
Browsing via IP address works fine
TIA,
Rob
